A Message from the President – January 2016
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As I sit down to write my January President’s letter and update on the Here We Stand campaign’s progress, Ray Zavada, our Campaign Director, and I have completed our five Circuit Coordinator educational workshops for the 45 pastors who agreed to serve in this capacity. I am sharing this with you to encourage you, your congregation’s leadership, and any other interested member, to attend one of the upcoming 18 Congregational Workshops that are scheduled around the state in the months of February, March, and April. Ray and I will lead these workshops as well.
At these Congregational Workshops, we will explain each of the four Here We Stand campaign initiatives in great detail. Suggestions will also be offered as to how congregations can determine the level of their participation in the campaign. We expect the workshop to last about 90 minutes. You may access the complete Congregational Workshop schedule on the Here We Stand campaign website, or by contacting Linda Ekong at the Michigan District office at 734-213-4265, or by email at email@example.com. Sandy will be happy to provide you with workshop information and receive the names of all those from your congregation who will be attending the workshop you select.
Please register your attendee’s names in advance so that Host Congregations can adequately prepare for refreshments and that ample campaign materials will be available at each workshop.
I can’t stress enough how important it is for your congregation to be well represented at the workshop (or workshops) of your choosing. Please plan now and make your reservations as soon as you can.
The Here We Stand campaign is already beginning to make financial progress since its start in the fall of 2015. To date, nearly $200,000 dollars has been gifted. Although the Congregational Phase of the campaign has not yet begun, we’ve already received commitments from two congregations and one more will be making a participation decision before the end of this month. For this great beginning, we praise God! We have a long ways yet to go before reaching our goal of $10 million, but we are grateful for this wonderful start!
If you have not yet had an opportunity to browse through our campaign website, please do so soon. There, you will find everything you will need to know about Here We Stand, including the campaign booklet, video, commitment forms, FAQ’s, archived monthly newsletters and president’s letters, bulletin inserts, etc. I know you will find the website helpful and informative.
I truly look forward to seeing you at one of the upcoming Congregational Workshops! In the meantime, may God continue to bless you in this New Year. Please do not hesitate to contact Ray, Linda, or myself should you have any questions.
Your Brother in Christ,
Rev. Dr. David P.E. Maier, President
Michigan District, LCMS
