Advent 2015 Message from the President
Dear Brothers in Christ,
A blessed Advent greeting to you and the members of your congregations. It is my prayer that our journey through Advent will be joyous and filled with anticipation as we prepare for and then celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior.
As I continue my commitment to keep you informed about the upcoming congregational phase of the Michigan District-wide Here We Stand campaign, I am pleased to share the following information.
In my letter to you last month, I announced the schedule for 18 Congregational Workshops throughout the Michigan District during the months of February, March, and April, 2016. As a reminder, the complete schedule of workshops can be found on the Here We Stand campaign website, herewestand.michigandistrict.org/workshops.
Let me tell you what is happening in January as we lead up to the beginning of the 18 Congregational Workshops in February. If you are not aware, each circuit of the Michigan District has a campaign circuit coordinator. In fact, there are three circuits that have dual coordinators, either due to geographic size of the circuit, or because of the desire of two pastors to serve together in this role. In January, there will be four workshops educating each circuit coordinator about the Here We Stand campaign, so that each can be an effective and supportive campaign resource in their circuit. These workshops will be held on January 5, 7, 12, and 14, 2016. Ray Zavada and I will lead these workshops as well as the 18 Congregational Workshops which will follow.
As most congregations prepare to make campaign participation decisions in 2016, your circuit coordinator will serve as a valuable resource for you. He will share important campaign information and timelines at monthly circuit meetings, answer any campaign-related questions you may have, give insight into effective ways to participate, and serve as a liaison between your circuit and the Michigan District Office. Please utilize the knowledge and expertise of your circuit coordinator to help make your campaign participation experience as enjoyable and rewarding for you and your congregation as possible.
The entire list of campaign circuit coordinators is being published with this letter. Please thank your circuit coordinator, and the others you know, for their service in this capacity. Ray and I are extremely grateful to each of them for their commitment of significant time and energy as they willingly serve their respective circuits, and we praise God for each of them.
Thank you for the opportunity to share this important information with you. Conducting a campaign as large as Here We Stand in a district as large as the Michigan District is a monumental undertaking. Each circuit coordinator is therefore a critical part of the campaign’s success, just as each congregation is vital to the campaign having a successful outcome. To the congregations who have already made campaign participation decisions, and to all who will in the months ahead, please accept my heartfelt appreciation.
In shared service of and worship to the coming King,
Rev. Dr. David P. E. Maier, President
Michigan District, LCMS
