Here We Stand – November 2015 Update
It’s our watch!
It is often stated that God has put each of us in this time, in this generation, for His purpose. It is no accident where we are at on this earth or where we have been called. Five hundred years ago it was Martin Luther’s time in history and God used him to reform the church.
My wife and I like to visit lighthouses. We have climbed to the top of many here in Michigan and several in other states, always enjoying the spectacular view. Often there is a museum of artifacts and a history display at the lighthouse. Inevitably, there is information on the lighthouse keepers, someone having served for so many years from this-date-to-that-date, another fellow for another period of time, and so on. Impressive facts on how they lived there and some raised a family on site. More importantly, how they faithfully carried fuel oil or kerosene to the top of the lighthouse, 24/7, to keep the guiding light glowing….for it was their watch!
Now, it is our watch. It is our time to do our part in keep the guiding light of the saving Gospel message glowing for this generation and for the next. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
Part of the Church Extension Fund mission statement recites, “…to make resources available…in carrying forward the Great Commission”. CEF has been blessed by God with financial assets earned by its operation and funds bequeathed by folks who wanted to support our mission. With the CEF mission in mind, the CEF Board of Trustees has promised a 10% match for the Here We Stand effort; $100,000 for every $1 million raised. Plus, CEF has made a commitment to underwrite the administrative costs of the campaign. Hence, donors can know that every dollar given is designated for the campaign goals.
The time is now, for Here We Stand. It’s our watch!
