Here We Stand – September 2018 Update

Professional Church Worker Scholarships Increase by 10% for 18-19 School Year

The Michigan District, LCMS is happy to announce that Professional Church Worker Scholarships will increase again for the 2018-19 school year. This 10% increase, made possible by a very successful Here We Stand campaign, comes on the heels of a 10% increase for the previous school year as well.

Our goal at the Michigan District is to have the ability to provide scholarship assistance that will truly help our next generation of church workers meet their educational costs while attending a Concordia University System (CUS) school or one of our two seminaries.

Currently, 108 Professional Church Work students have been identified as scholarship recipients for the 2018-19 school-year. These students attend Michigan District congregations and meet the requirements to be a scholarship recipient. A total of approximately $265,000 will be divided among these students in varying amounts depending upon which educational institution they attend. (Please see the adjacent chart identifying the scholarship amounts being received by students at a CUS school or seminary).

The ability of the Michigan District to provide scholarships is significantly influenced by the continued success of the Professional Church Worker Scholarship initiative of the Here We Stand campaign. Because of the generosity of many congregations and individuals in the Michigan District, nearly $1.2 million has already been given and/or pledged in support of this scholarship program. These funds will be distributed over the next several years.

Please prayerfully consider a one-time contribution, or a multi-year pledge, to help build our Professional Church Worker Scholarship program to an even greater and more sustainable level.

To participate, please complete the form below and return it to the Michigan District office along with your check and/or pledge, or contact Ray Zavada, Vice President of Development and Here We Stand campaign director, at 734.213.4264 or ray.zavada@michigandistrict.org.
